Custom software development
Web applications, APIs and SaaS platforms
The problem
People arrive here by two routes. Either off-the-shelf software does not do what the business needs, and the day goes on working around its limits with spreadsheets and manual effort. Or something bespoke was built years ago, nobody understands it any more, and every change takes weeks.\n\nIn both cases the cost is not the licence — it is people's time compensating for what the tool does not do.
How we work
We start with the process, not the code. Before proposing an architecture we work out how the job happens today, where it stalls, and what would happen if nothing changed — because sometimes the right answer is not to build.\n\nThen we ship in pieces. The first useful version arrives early and goes into real use, rather than six months of development followed by a single delivery that turns out not to match what was needed.\n\nThe code is documented and lives in your repository. If you ever work with someone else, they can carry on.
What you get
- A web application or API in production, with domain and certificate
- Documented code in your repository, not ours
- A test environment separate from production
- Integration with the systems you already use
- Handover before we step away
When this is not for you
If what you need already exists and covers 80% of the case, buying costs less than building — and we say so rather than selling development. It is also not for anyone wanting a fixed price without defining scope: in that scenario either the quote is padded to cover the unknown, or it ends in requests for more money halfway.
Frequently asked
How long does it take?
It depends on scope, and be sceptical of anyone answering without knowing it. What we can commit to is an early first useful version, so the estimate stops being theoretical within a few weeks.
Do I own the code?
Yes, in a repository in your name from day one. We do not hold code hostage as a way of securing maintenance work.
Who maintains it after delivery?
You can, another supplier can, or we can. The documentation and handover exist precisely so that this is your choice rather than a dependency.
